Now in its 15th year, the 2026 UPLIFT screening exercise reached 655 women, with free lumpectomy surgery for those who need it.
This year, our annual free screening exercise reached 655 women, checking for breast and cervical cancers and identifying those who need further care. Now in its 15th year, the exercise is organised by the UPLIFT Development Foundation in partnership with Yeye Moremi Oodua.
Of the women screened, 81 recorded a suspicious cervix that will require a further pap smear for definitive diagnosis, and 56 women had issues with the breast, including 50 breast lumps, 2 breast cancers and 3 cases of breast pain.
Those requiring lumpectomies will be contacted and the date of surgery conveyed to them directly. The cost will be covered by His Excellency Senator Ibikunle Amosun and actioned through UPLIFT in the usual manner.
